Milla Edelman enjoys a vast and impressive vita in the opera cosmos.
Born in Tula, Russia, Milla Edelman, a soloist with the Israeli Opera since 1997, has garnered rave reviews on her performances from Israel to Europe (Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembburg, Holland, Finland, Turkey) to South America, where she has performed as a soloist in recitals and with opera companies. Milla Edelman sings in eight languages. Among these she has played Verdi roles - Azucena in "Il Trovatore", Maddalena in "Rigoletto", Suzuki in Puccini's "Madama Butterfly", Mothers role in Offenbach's "Les contes d'Hoffman", 2-nd maid and Lady - in waiting in "Electra" (Strauss), the Monitor in "Suor Angelica", la Frugola in "Il Tabarro" from Puccini's "Il Trittico" and others. Her chambers concert repertoire is broad and varied -it ihcludes both Spanish (E.Granados, M.de Falla), a Russian (Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff) songs and romances, Italian arias and songs (Stradella, Marcello, Rossini, Donizetti, Pergolesi, Vivaldi), arias from cantatos, messe and oratorium (Bach, Handel), German lieder (Shubert, Mendelssohn, Shuman), Jewish and Hebrew folk songs and Russian romances and folk songs. The winner of Israel's National Music Competition in 1993, Milla Edelman also has diplomas from prestigious Internationals competitions, including the Tchaikovsky International Competition (Moscow), and the Rimsky - Korsakov International Competition (St. Petersburg). Milla Edelman studied with Galina Vishnevskaya, Elena Obraztsova, Irina Archipova in Russia, later with Fedora Barbieri in Italy and S.Umansky in Israel. She has taken opera workshops in New York (Metropolitan opera), Holland "Festival bel Canto".
